What is Kappa Alpha Theta Life Loyal?

When we were initiated into Kappa Alpha Theta, we became members for life, and that will never change. The Life Loyal program is an optional program for members who wish to further support Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity financially. Revenue made from memberships in the program will support an endowment of The Kappa Alpha Theta Magazine, and future educational and personal development programs for our collegiate and alumnae members. The Life Loyal program is designed, now and forever, to be able to address the most critical need as determined by our leadership and meet that need—now and into perpetuity. The Magazine is the most critical need now—to enhance our communication vehicle and reach the people most interested in receiving this communication piece.

How will I benefit from joining Kappa Alpha Theta Life Loyal?

Life Loyal members do not pay annual alumnae dues to the Fraternity. When you become a Life Loyal member, you will receive these other valuable benefits:

  • A beautifully crafted lapel pin
  • A personalized membership card confirming your Life Loyal status
  • A lifetime subscription to and recognition in our quarterly magazine, The Kappa Alpha Theta Magazine
  • Access to our Working Advantage savings program, featuring discounts on shopping and tickets to movie theaters, amusement parks, ski resorts and entertainment events nationwide

How much does it cost to join?

The one-time cost of membership in Kappa Alpha Theta Life Loyal is $299 or, for added convenience, 12 monthly payments of $28. Our 50-year plus members can join for a one-time cost of $189. Payments can be received in a variety of methods to satisfy almost all budgets. Please remember that Life Loyal members do not pay annual alumnae dues to the Fraternity.

How will my Life Loyal membership affect my annual chapter dues payments?

As a Life Loyal member, you will no longer be required to pay your yearly $15 per capita dues to the Fraternity. This means that your chapter will provide a separate amount for you to pay that will go directly to your alumnae chapter, not to Fraternity headquarters. For example, if your annual chapter dues were $35, you would be charged only $20, which would go directly to your alumnae chapter to fund chapter operations.

Why is the Theta magazine a benefit of Kappa Alpha Theta Life Loyal? I thought all Thetas received our magazine automatically.

Over the next six years, the Fraternity will restructure the circulation program of the award-winning magazine. Collegians will continue to receive The Magazine; alumnae who do not wish to join the Kappa Alpha Theta Life Loyal program may still receive The Magazine by paying annual alumnae dues either individually or through an alumnae chapter. There will also be a free online version of our magazine on our website.

Is my Kappa Alpha Theta Life Loyal membership fee tax-deductible?

The Kappa Alpha Theta Life Loyal membership fee is directed to The Magazine, a program of the Fraternity, and is therefore not tax-deductible.

I give to Theta Foundation and volunteer many hours for Kappa Alpha Theta. Am I not a Life Loyal member?

Members who do not join the Life Loyal program are no less valued. Whether through the gift of time, the gift of skills and expertise, or through financial gifts, we have found that members wish to give to Kappa Alpha Theta in a variety of ways. Kappa Alpha Theta Life Loyal provides another option for members who wish to give to Kappa Alpha Theta in their preferred way.
